Quick and Pretty Patriotic Parfait for Independence Day!
In the heat of summer, Independence Day is a great opportunity to cool off, celebrate, and spend time with loved ones! Today I'm sharing a simple, refreshing fruit parfait that's perfect for kids and adults alike. The red, white, and blue elements make it a festive treat that everyone will enjoy!
You will need:
- 1 quart of vanilla or plain yogurt
- Fresh blueberries and raspberries (or strawberries, if you prefer)
- Granola
- Clear plastic cups
Start with a thin layer of yogurt, and begin layering other ingredients to create a fun and colorful snack! Make sure to wash all your fruit before getting started to save time and ensure you have enough based on how many parfaits you'll be creating.
As you add in fruit, be sure to create even layers so that the colors will be visible when the cup is full. I layered blueberries, yogurt, raspberries, more yogurt, and then a layer of raspberries and blueberries on top.
Originally, I included granola in the layers of the parfait. When we taste-tested, we learned that that makes the granola less crunchy and satisfying! Given this, I recommend adding granola to the top of the parfait just before serving.
This easy, healthy snack would also be such a fun "snack bar" item for your Independence Day celebrations! Just place all the ingredients in festive bowls and let guests do the creating. If you're hosting the cookout, consider adding this sweet treat to your spread!
